Niclas Broer
Niclas Broer, MD, FACS, MHBA is Professor of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at the Technical University Munich. He serves as managing attending physician in the department for plastic, reconstructive, hand and burn surgery at the academic teaching hospital München Klinik Bogenhausen, where he also is section chief of reconstructive breast and aesthetic surgery.
He completed his undergraduate and medical school training at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich and Technical University of Munich. After successfully passing the American board exams (USMLE) he qualified for specialist training in the USA. He was recruited to the highly competitive combined plastic surgery residency program at Yale University Medical School in New Haven (Connecticut, USA). His six-year combined plastic surgery residency there he crowned with an one-year fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery and aesthetic surgery in New York (NY, USA) at the renowned Institute for Reconstructive Surgery (IPRS) at NYU Langone Medical Center of New York University.
Professor Broer has been awarded Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPLS); he also gained the European (EBOPRAS) and German medical speciality titles (plastic and aesthetic surgery as well as an additional qualification in hand surgery). Only recently, he received his Master of Business Health Administration.
He is an active member of numerous associations dedicated to plastic surgery, including the German (DGPRÄC) and European societies of Plastic Surgery (EURAPS). He serves as reviewer for seminal journals such as the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery and the Aesthetic Journal and has authored more than 100 manuscripts and book chapters in the field of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
As a reconstructive plastic surgeon, he regularly accompanies operations by Interplast Germany in countries with low and middle incomes.
